The Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival 2006, Sunday. Gongoozling as no band on yet - having a double esspreso from the balcony.

The Big Lock (pub of same name on the right).

"H" appearing as "bb and Strangelove" at the Cheshire Cheese on Saturday afternoon. The sound was really good there.

Lots of people seemed to know the songs but the funny thing is most of them I associate only with H singing them -

"Who knows where the time goes" has been stuck on a loop in my head (somewhere between "Hump De Bump" and "Maneater"!) since this performance and I don't know the original but I cannot for my life imagine anyone sings it better than H does. If you're reading this H this was a particularly fine performance even by your high standards. Soulful, gutsy and liquid vocals.

A blues-ish band at The Big Lock (yes the name of the lock and the associated pub again). They are playing across the water with the lock gates in the foreground.

Sorry - but I can't remember the bands name.
The Kings Lock (the lock itself and the pub) in Middlewich at the boat and folk festival. An important area in my life as my first time at the tiller of "Blue Sky" was here. The bar of the pub is partly made from a real narrowboat (unlike the pretend one in the Shroppie Fly!).

Perhaps along with "Saturn", the most famous boat on the inland waterways - the 1905 steam boat "President" in Middlewich.

One side of the boat masked off and freshly painted. (The other side is as scruffy as before!).

Doesn't this picture just make you want to be the size of a small insect exploring this endless, lush jungle?

Ok that's just me then.

LAZZZY DAYZZZE. I'm someone who finds it very hard to stay still and sit around doing nothing very much (maybe not the typical image of a live-abourd boater!)- I've usually got way too much can'tsitdownloadsofnervousandphysicalenergy going on.

But today I've had such a lazy day AND managed to enjoy it. Listened to Chris Moyeles who was on form this morning - had a shower - typed up an already written essay - read a hillarious chapter of Anthony Kiedis's book - wandered into Sandbach and bought a couple of things and , this. Must be the sunny weather. Will probably get back to normal in a couple of hours. Only thing is I got neck-ache from all the lounging about - most gruelling than it looks this lazyness!
