The Macc Canal Is Gorgeous. You must go there NOW!

In places anyway. It's absolutely stunning around kent Green. This is a view near Ramsdell Hall in Kent Green (oldest part and an offshoot of Scholar Green).

Used to go there as a kid when I lived in Alsager. Fantastic views. Decent fishing.

There are certainly plenty of huge carp (leather, mirror common and "ghost" carp which I thought were released Koi) which spend much of their time in the marina where they often shoal or just hang-around sun-bathing near the surface for all to see.

When I lived in the marina I got used to seeing some of the individual fish which would almost feed from your hand and would sometimes worry about them to be honest, when we heard the night fishermen's buzzers go off opposite the marina entrance in case they were catching "our" fish! -Fishing is banned in the marina itself.

I may have a photo somewhere of feeding the carp breadcrumbs over the side of the boat.

An *offshoot* of Scholar Green? Talk about the middle of nowhere.

It does feel like the middle of nowhere sometimes. I was in a tiny pub called The Globe there one time (closed at the moment) when one of the locals was talking sagely about the perils of "goose fever", he explained to me (the locals all knew about this condition as they were clearly nodding soberly, or as soberly as you can after several pints of guest) that goose fever "..is when the sound of geese is in your head all night". I thought maybe it's time to move on a few miles...
